I definitely need to get myself into a better sleeping pattern, but I think I will hold out until after my last exam on Monday, because really... I cannot study too well during the day because my housemates are huge distractions.
In any case, there are a few things I wish I had right now:
- a cup of good tea
- money to buy good christmas presents
- a new Moleskine journal
- a MacBook Pro
- all of David Gray's Cd's
- the man downstairs
- no worries about my very near future situation
- creativity, and lots of it
Creativity. That's one thing that has been bothering me lately. I have this urge to be creative and start on a new project... yet, every time I try to, nothing comes out of me. I'm completely empty, or so it seems. I need inspiration. That's what I need, yes. After monday there will need to be a Me day - those days usually inspire me in some way or another. It will be fantastical.
... and amongst those things is taking out a leather bound journal, and starting to write in it. Especially if he is already good looking to begin with. And then, when he catches my eye staring at him, he shall not smile. Those two rules must be followed. Must be.
Finally Vox comes out with a theme that I just completely love. In fact, there are 3 new ones that are... me. I feel that this one fits me more so than the other ones at the moment... but of course, it will be changed in due time. I think I need to stick to one theme and not change it so often.
I love how I feel like I'm cheating Vox. It always tells me that it won't work with Safari, yet... I'm doing it! Of course, this is most likely due to them working on fixing the problem that was once much bigger, but I can think otherwise, can't I? Sure I can.
Well, that was odd. I think this page is definitely having difficulties with Safari, but it works... somewhat. Sometimes it doesn't want to, but if you just refresh, it starts working again. Right now the background is grey... which, I'm sure is not the greatest thing, but I can type (which it didn't let me do the second time I tried). I hope Vox fixes this problem. I haven't been a big Safari user but recently I've been liking it more, mainly because of the never ending page look. I don't like the box-y look of Firefox any longer - even though Firefox does have the lovely tabs. Hmmm, well I go back and forth between the two. But right now, I'm in a Safari mood.
Hmmm, so it told me that this page is not compatible with Safari, yet... it seems to be working. Perhaps if I try to post this, it won't let me. Lets try, shall we?
I can't seem to be able to find a layout that I'm completely happy with. I suppose this one is the closest to what I would call perfection as is possible with Vox. I like clean, simple and yet artsy type of layouts. I like colour, but not too much colour. Black and white is perfect. And this is black and white... and I do quite enjoy the little birdies. Reminds me of Romania - those long summer days when I would lie on the grass looking up at the sky and the birds sitting on those telephone lines. Yes, those were good times.
I still haven't figured out what to use Vox for. If it weren't for Kawaii's blog I wouldn't even really come on Vox. However, I just love reading her blog. It's so beautiful and she writes really well. That combination is very rare to find. I only know two such rare things - Kawaii's and DailyGuilt's. However, even LJ has become a bit bland now since BlueHoursToo doesn't post anymore. I still read Tom and Jono's blogs... but I miss reading BlueHoursToo's. I really don't like it when I get attached to something and then it disappears. That goes for everything - even blogs, but especially people.
It really scares me when I hear sirens. It's so bothersome. I am hearing many right now. I wonder who is suffering right now... who this Ambulance is for. I can't help but wonder if this person is young. If this person is going to die. Ahh, I don't like it one bit.
In any case, on Friday, Beth's actual birthday - we went down to the Lake since it was such a gorgeous day outside. I, of course had my camera with me... so we took a few pictures.
I love this particular one so much! I'm not even sure why. We all look kind of funny - yet, it's a cute picture. For those who do not know me or my housemates, the Blonde is Heather, then me and then Beth. There are some other good photos, but mostly of Heather. She started rolling down this hill and one of the pictures turned out very well. I wish I could share it, but I can't find it... so perhaps another time. Other than that - we went out on Thursday night to celebrate Beth's birthday and I was very disappointed that she didn't drink. I knew she didn't really feel like going out, but I thought that she'd enjoy herself once she was there. This did not seem to have happened. She looked a bit on the bored side the whole night. Heather, Katie and I were having a blast, especially since later on in the night, Andy came and this got Heather super excited. I on the other hand saw a guy who looked like James and because I was a *little* drunk, I suppose I actually thought it was him, so I went up and hugged him. Needless to say, he thought I was completely and utterly weird. This didn't stop him from coming up to me on Friday on campus and giving me a hug. At first, I couldn't figure out what was happening, but when he started telling me the story of "last night", I started remembering. I think I need to stop getting drunk. I only do stupid, stupid things. THIS is not good.
I suppose I still have quite a few things that I could and would say if I were not so exhausted. I will say this much though - I absolutely love my Mac. It was definitely the best purchase I have ever made. I'm super happy with it. I need to take a good picture of it - during the day. Unfortunately my camera takes great pictures during the day but horrible ones during the night. (The only pictures of my iMac that I have right now were taken at night - so, yuck)
You know what I would really love to have? Every single Lonely Planet book out there. Perhaps I'll go even as far as saying that I would love to have every single Eyewitness Travel book out there as well. I've been trying to decide which I like better - Lonely Planet or Eyewitness Travel. I think Eyewitness Travel looks better and is great for pictures, but then information wise, I think Lonely Planet wins. Lonely Planet also has a wider variety of countries than any other. I recently bought a Formers guide to Europe by Rail, and I was disappointed. Former just seems so confusing - I don't enjoy reading it - it's just not well organized. But yes, I think that if I could have anything in the world this very minute, I'd have every book set out by the two companies...
I think I should buy the Lonely Planet one (2nd) and look at what sorts of information it has/has not that Eyewitness does not/does. Hmmm... yes I think that I should do that at some point before I go to Portugal...
What's your morning beverage of choice? Coffee, tea, juice? Homemade or store-bought?
Oh, Tea definitely! I normally make it myself, just because... well, it's much cheaper that way. I like my Tazo teas the most, but I enjoy nearly any kind of Tea. I find that Tazo just has these really strong flavours. I mean I've tried many different brands of Teas and they've all been good to a certain extent, but none were quite like Tazo. My favorite Tazo tea is Awake. Like the name of the tea, it really does make you feel awake... and it's such yummy black Tea.
In other news, I went a bit passport cover crazy today. I bought one from Ebay - a plain red one with the word Passport on it (however, not in the ugly gold writing that so many of them have) and I paid over $20.00 for it. Not bad considering that that includes shipping as well. However, there are two more that I desperately want.
The one in the second picture I will buy as soon as Jono gets himself an apartment so that I can ship to him, since this site doesn't ship to Canada, and that's the only place where I found these ones. They have other colours too (and each colour is a different design) p red, blue and orange. I really like the red one, however since I had already bought a red Leather one today, I think I will go for the brown one. Actually, I like the brown colour much better but I love the design for the red one. If you're curious of what I'm talking about, check the website. It's a neat website. A bit on the expensive side, but they offer very pretty things.
So what's the sudden fascination with passport covers? Well... it's not sudden. In Romania we used to have covers for our books. I remember them - these simple blue plastic covers. We were punished if our books would not be kept in good condition... they weren't allowed to have any bends in them, and every single text book had to have the cover. I had covers on my notebooks too, to keep them in good condition. I loved these covers. I took such good care of my textbooks and notebooks - and I still do to this day. In any case, since then I've always liked neat covers for things - textbooks, notebooks, passports, checkbooks etc. I've been meaning to get myself a passport cover for a while now, but I never got around to it - and then today I was going through a folder of magazine cutouts from a few years ago and I came across these shiny metalic looking passport covers that I had cut out of a magazine. And so I decided that it was time. I can't wait to actually go and use my passport now... well - once I get all these pretty passport covers! I'm going to have a hard time deciding which I will want to use!
What magazines do you subscribe to, and why?
Currently just Walrus - and that's because I like it and it was cheap for Canadian Students! Yay. However, in the next month or so I need to get a subscription to Dwell and Strut and perhaps one more (Domino maybe? Oh yeah.) And those subscriptions need to be done because I absolutely love those magazines. Hmmm... maybe Wallpaper too... depends on how much money I'll have.
Oh, I was thinking and wouldn't it be nice if Vox had the ljcut feature? Livejournal people should know what I'm talking about. Often I find myself wanting to do a survey/meme on here, but I don't want to have it all show. I mean, it looks bad and not only that... but some people won't care to read that. I wish they'd come up with something similar... I think that's really the only thing I don't like about Vox. That and the non-threaded comments - but apparently they're going to change that, so that's good.
